Founded by Greg DeWitt in 2003, Kern Tech Support was established on a lifetime of technology experiences and a sincere desire to help people with computer related challenges.
Goals are meant to be achieved and our mission is designed to do just that. What's our mission? Simple...
There is no need to complicate matters. As one might imagine, we succeed in our mission daily. How many companies can say that?
Anyway, it did not take very long for Greg to catch on to the pattern that most computer problems were not so much based on malfunctioning hardware. Contrarily, people needed help on the software side. In other words, computer viruses were causing more problems than failed hard drives or the need for high-end graphics cards.
Within a short period of time, Greg based his entire business on a single service: Computer Virus removal. He became really good at it. In fact, until the proliferation of high-speed internet, it was not uncommon for Greg to see a client only one time. Between his effective, common-sense approach to computer repair and below market value computer repair rates, Greg began telling his typically appreciative clients, “The only thing I ask is that you tell five people.” That was a few years ago and evidently they’ve been spreading the word about Kern Tech Support.
So, that is where the whole computer repair thing came from, and now, KTS offers the same stellar Computer Virus Removal service which includes data recovery, award-winning software, and a host of other perks that you’ll never find if you call the “nerd herd.” KTS also offers a monthly subscription-based monitoring service to make sure your computer files, music, pictures, movies, documents, taxes, and so on are protected.
However, even before the computer repair stuff came along, Greg was busy working on his website design and development skills. From 1998 to 2003 he was the drummer for a Christian rock band. Along with schlepping drums all over California, Greg found himself keeping the band’s website updated using an online drag and drop HTML editor. Those were the good ‘ole days of website design, but the experience lead to other “heavy” HTML sites and more experience tinkering with web development.
Nowadays, web design is as much a technical skill as it is a form of art. Web standards, mobile browsers, graphics optimization, and a host of other technologies have lead to an exponential increase in the knowledge that is really required to become a worthwhile web developer. The bottom line is Greg has gone from dabbling in web design some 10 years ago to producing functional, light-weight HTML websites using CSS, Flash, JavaScript, MySQL, and PHP.
A lot of designers know how to do all of the same things, but only a small percentage have an aesthetic eye, a sense of marketing, an understanding of business, and an endless supply of desire to really help people bring their vision to the internet. Those are some of the reasons why KTS was tasked with developing everything from a “way-out” Flash website for an International Christian pastor to a simple, yet attention grabbing website for a breeder of designer dogs.
That is pretty much the entire story. The beginnings, like most businesses, were humble and scattered, but over time the methodologies have been refined. Best of all, due to a little faith, patience, and a persistent, can-do attitude, our clients remain loyal.
