Web Design Process

The process for building websites typically involves 5 phases. Timelines, methods, and amounts vary according to the type of project and geographical location. The below list is only a representation:

Phase 1: Consultation

This design meeting is one of the most important aspects of developing a website. We will discuss the purpose of the website, layout concepts, and color schemes among other topics. Be sure to set aside one or two hours for this meeting, and be ready to provide some preliminary digitized text and pictures. We will also sign a website development agreement and collect a project deposit of 50%.

Phase 2: Concept

KTS begins developing your website. The goal here is to produce a workable layout using graphic and text place holders. You will receive an online link to view the concept and an opportunity to suggest changes. Once the layout is approved we may collect 50% of the remaining project balance before proceeding.

Phase 3: Content

Client provided text is added to the web pages. Images are scaled, altered, and edited as required and added to the web pages. Visitor information forms are developed. Flash animations are finalized. Navigation scripts are finalized. Other bells and whistles are added and finalized.

Phase 4: Completion

The completed website is launched to a KTS domain for functionality testing. A redirect might be established from the client url. Minor text and graphics changes are allowed for 10 days. Outstanding balance is due.

Phase 5: Continuation

This is the monthly maintenance phase where Kern Tech Support updates text, images, links, and manages email addresses and other server-side functions. More »
